The college of law at the University of Baghdad discussed a master’s thesis in the international law of the student (woroud estebrag Hadi), tagged with (international legal framework for child protection in cyberspace), on Tuesday, corresponding to 30/7/2024 on the model courtroom at the college.
The thesis aims to identify the most important digital rights of the child in cyberspace, review the general concepts related to children and cyberspace, and give a comprehensive view of the reality of the spread of the phenomenon of risks and exploitation against children through communication networks using the internet.
The first chapter dealt with the conceptual framework of the child and cyberspace, the second chapter dealt with cyber risks against children in cyberspace in the light of international law, and the third chapter dealt with international and national efforts to protect children from the dangers of cyberspace.
The thesis came out with several recommendations, the most important of which is the legislation of the Iraqi child protection law, which includes protecting children from harmful information and crimes arising from the use of the internet, joining internal and international efforts to establish international and regional organizations and conclude bilateral and collective agreements and be specialized, whose main task is coordination on countering and containing cybercrimes and trying to mitigate them.
