Sura Adib Hamid, head of the Continuing Education Unit at the college, and delivered by Dr. Mahmoud Khalil Jafar head of the international branch, in the presence of college lecturers and staff, on Sunday, 30/6/2024 on the conference hall at the college.
The workshop aims to raise awareness about the importance of sustainable development and the mechanism of its application and remove obstacles facing the achievement of its goals in Iraq.
The workshop included several topics, including the lack of alignment of the Sustainable Development Goals locally, lack of coordination between parties and multiple sectors, building on existing institutional frameworks, lack of availability of data and statistical capabilities .
The workshop came up with several recommendations, the most important of which are the inclusion of development goals within the planning and implementation of public policies at the local level, working on close and broad coordination between government institutions with each other and with non-governmental institutions to ensure concerted efforts and non-duplication, not to introduce overlapping mechanisms through the establishment of new institutions if existing institutions can carry out the same work unless the introduction is necessary.
