The college of law at the University of Baghdad discussed a master’s thesis in the criminal law of the student (Mustafa Hamid Mohammed), marked with (Brutal methods of committing a crime _ analytical study), on Sunday, 30/6/2024 on the model courtroom.

The purpose of the thesis is to show the impact of brutal methods on the crime and to diagnose its subject, whether they are an essential element of it and a necessary requirement for physical corner in it or as an emergency circumstance on it, and to indicate the specificity of fine-tuning on the one hand and the effect of heavy punishment on the other .

The thesis included three chapters, the first of which dealt with the concept of brutal methods, the second chapter the rooting of the standard of brutal methods, and the third chapter dealt with criminal liability for the use of brutal methods.

The thesis came out with several recommendations, the most important of which is to call on the legislator to develop a comprehensive definition of the concept of brutal methods, adopting a standard for brutal methods in the criminal law focused on the pillars and basic elements that guide the discretion of the judge.
