The college of law at the University of Baghdad discussed a master’s thesis in the international law of the student (Fatima Mahmoud Taher), marked with(determining the River borders between countries in international law and its applications in Iraq), on Tuesday, 30/4/2024 on the model courtroom at the college.
The aim of the thesis is to determine what the Rivers borders are and their concept in international law and The Associated real-life applications on the Rivers borders in Iraq.
The thesis included three chapters, the first chapter dealt with the concept of River borders in international law, the second chapter dealt with river border disputes, and the third chapter dealt with Iraq’s River borders and related problems.
The thesis came out with several recommendations, the most important of which is to propose to the Iraqi government the formation of an Iraqi advisory committee consisting of professors and specialists in legal, geographical, engineering and Economic Sciences to provide consultations, and to propose to the Iraqi government to strengthen the means of negotiation with regard to Iraq’s water security and its borders drawn on the rivers .
