The private law at the college of Law, University of Baghdad, held a scientific seminar entitled (The legal status of children whose parents belong to ISIS terrorist gangs), delivered by the lecturer at the private law (Dr. Nada Abdul Kadhim Hussein), on Sunday, 28/4/2024 on the model courtroom at the college.
The seminar aims to demonstrate the problems and legal solutions to the situations faced by children whose parents belong to Daesh terrorist gangs, because after the end of the war against Daesh, many of these children still do not have official documents to prove their identity despite their presence on Iraqi soil, some of them have origins in Iraq and some to foreign countries, which presupposes addressing their situation.
The seminar came up with several recommendations, the most important of which is to speed up finding legal solutions to address the situation of children whose parents belong to Daesh terrorist gangs, by granting official certificates to those who return to Iraq and providing legal, psychological, religious and social support to them to address the extremist ideology that they grew up on because their survival poses a threat to the security and interest of Iraq and its people, but those whose origins belong to foreign countries should seek diplomatic ways with their countries and try to return them to their countries of origin .
