The international law at the college of Law, University of Baghdad, held a scientific symposium on published scientific research entitled (legal implications of biotechnology (biological warfare and patents as a model), presented by the lecturer at the international law (Dr. Luma Abdelbaki Mahmoud), and in the presence of graduate students, on Tuesday, 2/4/2024 in the building of the college of law.
The research aims to provide an in-depth study on the negative effects of biotechnology, while clarifying the International and regional efforts exerted by international law and international organizations in countering the effects of this technology by setting the necessary standards for its application.
The research included several recommendations, the most important of which is to direct and intensify international efforts to develop a legal instrument that joins biotechnology and directs its negative effects, translate international agreements into national laws and regulations and a coordinated biosafety framework between various national regulatory agencies.
