The Continuing Education Unit at the college of Law, University of Baghdad, held a scientific seminar entitled (Protection of cultural property during non-international armed conflicts), presented by the lecturer in the international law (Asst. lect. Mohammed Ismail), and in the presence of college lecturers, staff and students, on Wednesday, 2024/03/20 at the conference hall at the college.

The seminar aims to educate students about the importance of cultural heritage and the mechanisms available internationally to protect it

The seminar included several topics, the most important of which are the definition of cultural property, the forms and forms of damage to cultural property, the responsibility of the international community to protect cultural property during non-international armed conflicts, international conventions on the protection of cultural property during non-international armed conflicts.

The seminar came up with several recommendations, including the dissemination of the provisions of the international conventions on the protection of cultural property to students, the prosecution of members of terrorist gangs for the crime of destruction of cultural property in Iraq.
