The private law at the college of Law, University of Baghdad, held a scientific seminar entitled (The damage caused by the promotion of extremist ideas and compensation for it through guarantee funds), presented by the lecturer in the private law (Dr. Haider Falih Hassan), and in the presence of post- graduate students, on Thursday, 2024/03/07 at the college of Law Building.
The seminar aims to shed light on the exploitation by extremist groups of traditional and modern means in promoting their extremist ideas, which often entails the implementation of terrorist operations targeting both public and private facilities and institutions, as well as individuals, and then the injured seek prompt and effective compensation from those responsible for that damage to eliminate its effects.
The seminar included several topics, including the introduction of the promotion of extremist ideas and a statement of the means used in this, the types of damage caused by terrorist acts affected by extremist ideas, compensation for damage caused by terrorist acts through guarantee funds.
The seminar reached several recommendations, the most important of which is to call on the Iraqi legislator to speed up the legislation of the law on combating violent extremism and identify the persons responsible for promoting extremist ideas directly or indirectly.
