The psychological counseling and educational guidance unit at the college of Law, University of Baghdad, held a seminar entitled (Religious and cultural differences and the need to take them into consideration in the field of human rights), presented by the lecturer in the international law (Dr. Hussam Abdul Amir Khalaf), and in the presence of the college lecturers, staff and students, on Monday, 2024/02/19 at the model courtroom at the college.
The seminar aims to learn about religious and cultural differences and the need to take them into account in the field of sustainable development in the Arab countries in particular .
The seminar included several axes, including the definition of the concept of religious and cultural diversity, its manifestations, benefits and positive and negative consequences that may result from it, international and regional standards for cultural and religious diversity with reference to the Iraqi constitution of 2005, the requirements of respect for religious and cultural diversity.
The seminar came up with several recommendations, the most important parts are to recognize the importance of cultural and religious diversity for society and humanity, register and inventory all manifestations of cultural and religious diversity and related customs in danger of disappearance, adopt an ethical code to collect, document, publish and use manifestations of cultural and religious diversity.
