The international law at the college of law/ University of Baghdad held a seminar entitled (International and National Legal Mechanisms for Drug Control and Prevention), delivered by the head of the international law (Dr. Mahmoud Khalil Jafar), on Wednesday, 2024/02/14 at the college of Law Building.
The seminar aims to explain that drugs are a scourge that affects the individual and a socio-economic danger that threatens humanity, explain the most important international documents on Drug Control, indicate their mechanisms and what steps the States must take in the field of Drug Control, and indicate the position of the Iraqi legislator on drug control through the issuance of a law on drugs and Psychotropic Substances.
The seminar came up with several recommendations, the most important of which is to increase social awareness related to drug control, spread moral and Islamic values in society, spread legal culture and link it with the moral and criminal responsibility of individuals and conduct or write research and studies on Drug Control by all concerned national institutions.
