The private law at the college of Law, University of Baghdad, held a scientific seminar on a published scientific research entitled (The role of liberalization of services trade in stimulating investment in Iraq), delivered by the lecturer at the private law (Dr.Haifa Mazher Falahi) on Sunday, 2023/12/17 at the college of Law Building .
The seminar included the affirmation that trade liberalization is one of the most important trade reforms carried out by the Arab countries during the last two decades, as they announced more commitments and commitments under regional and multilateral trade agreements that link trade liberalization policies and Development Goals, building national productive capacities and creating employment opportunities.
Decisions related to trade liberalization in general were often separate from development goals, as they led to pressure on the productive sectors and labor markets, and indicators of success in this area reflected in the openness of markets and not in contributing to development goals necessarily, therefore, one of the challenges facing developing countries is to give development plans a greater role in their quest to liberalize trade in services and make the latter proportional and parallel to the levels of development and with its objective goals.
