Under the auspices of the dean of the college of Law-University of Baghdad, (prof. Dr. Ali Hadi Attiya), on the occasion of the (16) day campaign to combat violence against women launched by the Ministry of higher education and scientific research, the women’s Empowerment unit at our college, in cooperation with the college of education for girls – psychology at the Iraqi university, organized a dialogue seminar entitled (psychological violence against women – its causes and consequences and how to deal with it), on Thursday, 2023/12/07 at the conference hall at the college.
The seminar aims at gender inequality as the root cause of violence against women and criminalizing and combating psychological violence through the adoption of legal texts criminalizing psychological violence .
The seminar came up with several recommendations, the most important of which is the collection, analysis and exchange of administrative data on psychological violence against women, conducting regular population surveys on psychological violence to examine its prevalence, causes and consequences, and criminalizing and combating all types of psychological violence against women.
