The University of Baghdad/ college of law discussed the doctoral dissertation in the international law of the student (Aras Abdullah Najmuddin), which entitled (smart sanctions in the framework of international regulation), on Wednesday, 08/11/2023 at the conference hall at the college .

The dissertation aims to explain the concept of smart international sanctions, the variables that affect their design and planning, and to define the interests and goals that Smart international sanctions seek to achieve and maintain .

The dissertation also included two chapters, the first one dealt with the conceptual framework of smart sanctions and the second chapter about the scope of application of smart international sanctions and the mechanisms of their implementation .

The most important recommendations reached by the dissertation are the need to monitor smart international sanctions when imposed on states, individuals and non-state entities in order to ensure that they do not cause suffering and harm to the citizens of those countries, which affects human rights
