The women’s Empowerment unit at the college of Law, University of Baghdad, in cooperation with the Continuing Education Unit at the college of Nursing, University of Baghdad, held a seminar entitled (early screening for breast and cervical cancer).Dr.Rabab Khalil Ibrahim) the head of the Women Empowerment unit, delivered by (Asst.Prof.Dr. Alla Hassan Marza), (Asst. Prof. Dr. Ibtisam Khalaf Abdullah), (Asst. Prof. Wissam mashaan), (Asst. Prof. Fatima Fadel), and in the presence of the college lecturers and the staff on Wednesday, 2023/11/01 in the conference hall at the college.
The seminar aims to take all necessary precautions and educate about the medical tests necessary to protect women from breast and cervical cancer and educate how to conduct self-examination and the Times of conducting those tests periodically early in order to prevent the infection of those diseases.
The seminar included several topics, the most important part is a brief overview of breast cancer, a brief idea about the structure of the breast from the anatomical point of view, the main types of breast cancer, symptoms and stages of the disease, diagnosis, and breast self-examination.
The seminar came up with several recommendations, including urging girls and women to conduct breast self-examination periodically and after their period. When detecting the presence of a lump in the breast or an abnormal change in it, it is necessary to see a doctor and not delay the examination. In the case of a person with a family’s history of breast cancer, the rest of the family should be periodically examined themselves.
