The international law at the college of Law, University of Baghdad held a scientific seminar entitled (international protection of the human genome), delivered by the lecturer (Asst.prof.Dr.Hussam Abdel Amir Khalaf), for postgraduate students, on Tuesday, 2023/10/31, at the model courtroom at the college.
The seminar aims to introduce the postgraduate students to the international law of bioethics as one of the new branches of public international law in connection with scientific and technological development within the components of Biomedicine.
The seminar included several topics, the most important of which is the definition of the human genome, the statement of its legal nature and the review of the principles governing the human genome and the legal system of protection.
The seminar came up with several recommendations, including the need for an international Bioethics Law that directly addresses the subject of the human genome, making international and regional agreements related to the protection of the human genome, the establishment of an international organization on Bioethics in order to develop the international law of bioethics.
