The Government Media and Communication Department at the College of Law, University of Baghdad, organized a seminar titled “Drug Epidemic” in collaboration with the Community Police in the Ministry of Interior. The session was chaired by Dr. Samer Saadoun Aboud, the head of the Criminal Law branch, and presented by Colonel Bilal Sabhi, the official spokesperson for the Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Directorate, and Major Haider Jasim from the Community Police. The seminar was attended by a number of faculty members, staff, and students of the college on Tuesday, October 24, 2023, in the conference hall of the college.

The seminar aims to raise awareness about the main causes of the spread of this epidemic, highlight its dangers, and recommend supervision and monitoring by families to protect their children. It emphasizes the need to work seriously to raise awareness about the deadly dangers of drug addiction, which has become widespread among young people.

The seminar included several topics, such as the main reasons for drug abuse, the disadvantages of addiction, how drugs are circulated, and the significant risks they pose to society, including an increase in crime rates and other social problems. The seminar also included presentations of images and videos introducing different types of drugs.

The seminar concluded with several recommendations, including the importance of educating the community, especially young people and parents, about the dangers of addiction and the need for parents to monitor their children to prevent them from sliding into this dangerous slope.
