The College of Law at the University of Baghdad discussed a master’s thesis in the field of international law by the student (Ayat Muayyed Nasser), titled “International Protection of the Environment within the Scope of Renewable Energy,” on Sunday, October 22, 2023, in the Model Court Hall at the college.

The thesis aims to gather and unify the most important international decisions and activities related to renewable energy, and to provide legal reinforcement to emphasize the importance of international law in the field of transitioning to renewable energy and contribute to highlighting the common legal aspects between renewable energy and branches of international law.

The thesis included three chapters. The first chapter discussed the conceptual framework of renewable energy and sustainable transformation, while the second chapter focused on the international legal framework for the production and integration of renewable energies. The third chapter addressed the effectiveness of renewable energy in facing international challenges.

The thesis concluded with several recommendations, including supporting political and security stability in less developed countries to create a legislative environment that supports renewable energy. It also recommended contributing to the development of a national guide for implementing energy efficiency and quality systems (50001) to facilitate the partial transition from fossil energy to renewable energy at the national level.
