The College of Law at the University of Baghdad discussed on Thursday, 28/09/2023, in the conference hall of the college, a master’s thesis in criminal law by the student (Samar Jabbar Mawlud) entitled (Crimes arising from a breach of food security).
The thesis aims to identify the concept of food security and what crimes affect this concept. The research also aims to identify the procedural provisions taken to protect against food security crimes introduced by the Iraqi Consumer Protection Law.
The thesis consisted of three chapters, the first of which dealt with the conceptual framework of food security, the second chapter dealt with the specific applications of some crimes of breach of food security, while the third chapter dealt with the measures taken to protect food security.
The thesis contained a number of recommendations, the most important of which was the need to activate the Consumer Protection Law, to form a Consumer Protection Council and associated inspection committees, and to regulate the procedures for consumer complaints under Iraqi law in such a way as to guarantee the consumer’s right to compensation in the quickest possible way, without complicated procedures.
