The College of Law at the University of Baghdad discussed a master’s thesis in the private law branch by the student (Marwa Sami Hassoun), entitled (Intervention in Civil Cases – A Comparative Study), on Tuesday, 08/29/2023, in the college’s model courtroom.

The thesis aims to highlight the importance of sensitive topics in social and economic life and in the law of civil procedures, since the opponents are the ones who bear the consequences of the dispute, and also to explain the role of the court in managing the opponents and not involving anyone who wants to involve himself in it without interest.

The thesis included three chapters, the first of which dealt with the nature of intervention in a civil lawsuit, the second chapter dealt with the procedures for intervention in a civil lawsuit, while the third chapter dealt with the effects of interference in a civil lawsuit.

The thesis came out with several recommendations, the most important of which is the Iraqi legislator’s call to the importance of amending the text of Article (69/1) of the Iraqi Code of Procedure, and also the Iraqi legislator’s call to the existence of confusion in giving a name to the foreign third party on the case and what is intended to be intervened, and a difference between Iraqi legislation and comparative legislation in agreeing on one term.
