The Rehabilitation and Employment Unit at the College of Law, University of Baghdad, organized a workshop entitled “Methods of Challenging Judicial Decisions” on Wednesday, October 28, 2026, at the college building. The workshop was delivered by Lecturer Russul Khalid Ibrahim, a faculty member in the Criminal Law Branch.
The workshop aimed to enable participants to understand the methods of challenging judicial decisions and their requirements, distinguish between ordinary and extraordinary methods of appeal, and enhance their ability to draft legal pleadings accurately.
The workshop covered three main topics. The first addressed the concept of challenging judicial judgments and its importance. The second focused on ordinary methods of challenging judicial judgments, while the third examined extraordinary methods of appeal.
The workshop concluded with several recommendations, most notably the importance of adhering to the legally prescribed deadlines for appeals to avoid their dismissal on procedural grounds. It also emphasized the need to be familiar with the legislation governing methods of challenging judicial decisions, understand their requirements and procedures, and strengthen legal awareness among students and graduates regarding the different types of judicial appeals and the distinction between ordinary and extraordinary methods.
