With the participation of 3,559 applicants, the College of Law at the University of Baghdad hosted, on Friday and Saturday, September 25–26, 2026, the Legal Competency Examination for the Judicial Institute’s 54th session for judges and 55th session for public prosecution members. The examination is one of the basic requirements for admission to the Judicial Institute and was conducted under the supervision of a number of judges.
A total of 1,459 applicants registered for the 54th session for judges, while 2,100 applicants registered for the 55th session for public prosecution members. The applicants took the examination in accordance with the approved regulations and procedures, with the necessary organizational and logistical arrangements provided to ensure the smooth administration of the test.
The examination was supervised by the following judges:

Judge Adel Khudair Abbas, Head of the Public Prosecution Service.

Judge Laith Jabr, Head of the Judicial Supervisory Commission.

Judge Khalid Al-Mashhadani, President of the Karkh Court of Appeal.

Judge Jalil Adnan Khalaf, Director General of the Judicial Institute.
The examination was also attended by the Dean of the College of Law at the University of Baghdad, Professor Dr. Ali Hadi Atiya, and the Associate Dean for Administrative Affairs, Assistant Professor Dr. Harith Ali Ibrahim, who followed the progress of the examination and monitored the organizational procedures implemented to ensure its smooth administration.
The examination was conducted in the college’s classrooms in accordance with the approved procedures, with the necessary organizational and logistical arrangements in place to accommodate the large number of applicants and facilitate the examination process. These measures were intended to ensure the efficiency and accuracy of the procedures, in keeping with the importance and nature of the examination.
Hosting this examination at the College of Law, University of Baghdad, reflects its academic and scholarly role in supporting legal and judicial institutions and strengthening cooperation with them. It also underscores the college’s position as Iraq’s historic leading law school, with a longstanding academic legacy. Over the decades, it has contributed to the education and training of generations of judges, legislators, lawyers, and law professors, while advancing legal knowledge and serving the justice system and the rule of law.
